Questions
Which rules are checked?
Always the European standard EN 16931 (CEN rules for UBL or CII). If the invoice says it is an XRechnung, also the KoSIT XRechnung 3.0 rules; for Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 also the Peppol rules; for CII invoices from a French seller also the French BR-FR rules.
Is the result legally binding?
No. The check uses the official rule files, but only the recipient or the official validator of your platform decides. It does not check the XML schema (XSD) in detail – the business rules catch most real-world errors.
What is the difference between XRechnung and ZUGFeRD?
XRechnung is a pure XML file (German rules on top of EN 16931). ZUGFeRD / Factur-X is a PDF with the XML built in, so people can read it and software can process it. Both are valid e-invoices in Germany if they follow EN 16931.
My invoice has errors. What now?
Each error shows the rule number and the official message. Correct the data in your invoicing software – or create a new, valid e-invoice for free with our form.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Your browser downloads the rule files once and runs the check locally. The invoice never leaves your computer.
